(Press Release) — Laurie Peterka will conclude her role as development & communications director with the Marianas Alliance of Nongovernmental Organizations effective Jan. 31, 2026, after a period of concentrated effort to strengthen organizational systems, communications, and sector capacity within the Commonwealth.
Her work with MANGO has focused on supporting the organization’s role as a central convener for the nonprofit sector and on strengthening frameworks intended to contribute to long-term stability, coordination, and effectiveness across the CNMI. That work remains in place and continues under MANGO’s leadership.
“Laurie’s work with MANGO has strengthened key systems and partnerships that support the nonprofit sector,” said Frances M. Sablan, executive director of MANGO. “We appreciate her contributions, remain confident in MANGO’s ongoing role serving nonprofits across the CNMI, and anticipate continued collaboration in support of the sector.”
“My work with MANGO has been a focused chapter within a longer commitment to strengthening nonprofit systems — deeply grounded in the CNMI while staying connected to regional relationships and shared challenges,” said Peterka. “This transition allows that work to continue in ways that support collaboration, stability, and shared purpose over the long term.”
This transition reflects an expansion in scope rather than a change in purpose. Peterka will continue her engagement in nonprofit and community work locally and regionally, building on relationships and efforts established through her work with MANGO and the broader nonprofit sector.
Going forward, Peterka will continue her work through the Ayuda Foundation, which serves as a vehicle for continued engagement and exploration related to strengthening resource development approaches for Micronesia, while remaining grounded in collaboration with existing nonprofit institutions and sector organizations.
“Ayuda was created to explore ways communities can strengthen the resources that support their work,” said Carlotta De Leon Guerrero, co-founder and executive director of the Ayuda Foundation. “We appreciate approaches that emphasize collaboration and long-term thinking.”
Peterka has expressed continued confidence in MANGO’s mission, leadership, and ongoing role in the community and anticipates continued collaboration in support of the nonprofit sector and the region as a whole.
