SAAM proclamation signing ceremony set for March 27

(NMCADSV) — The Northern Marianas Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence, alongside community partners, invites the public to attend the Sexual Assault Awareness Month or SAAM Proclamation Signing Ceremony on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 10 a.m. at the Royal Taga Ballroom, Saipan World Resort.

This ceremony officially recognizes April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month across the CNMI. This year’s theme, “Rooted in Community. Grounded in Care for Survivors,” centers on the importance of strengthening community responses to sexual violence through informed support, shared responsibility, and care for survivors.

Led by the 2026 SAAM Planning Committee and NMCADSV Staff, the program will include special remarks from community leaders and partners. For those unable to attend in person, the ceremony will be livestreamed in partnership with Marianas Press and can be viewed on NMCADSV’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/EndViolenceNMI

Throughout April, NMCADSV will host a series of events across the islands that bring awareness into everyday spaces and encourage community involvement.

Through opportunities for connection, learning, and support, NMCADSV will hold its annual S.A.F.E. Jamboree on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the CPA Airport Field. Families and community members are invited to engage with partner agencies through informational and interactive booths, learn about available services, and participate in a day of outreach and engagement. Attendees can enjoy local food vendors and live performances and receive a free SAAM t-shirt while supplies last.

On Sunday, April 12, 2026, at 9 a.m., NMCADSV will observe a Day of Prayer at San Antonio de Padua Parish. Additional details, including participating faith-based organizations and scheduled Mass times, will be announced soon. Churches and faith leaders across the CNMI are also encouraged to share messages that promote care, support, and accountability in addressing sexual violence.

In recognition of National Denim Day, the Wave, Walk, and Roll Against Sexual Violence will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. The event will begin at the Oleai Beach North Pavilion, across from the CEDA building, with registration at 4:30 p.m. Participants are encouraged to wear denim and take part in the Roadside Waving, followed by a one mile walk through the village.

Throughout the month, NMCADSV will host weekly radio shows every Wednesday at 8 a.m. on KKMP 92.1 FM. These conversations will feature NMCADSV Staff, 2026 SAAM Planning Committee Members, and partner agencies who will discuss key topics related to sexual assault awareness, education, and support services.

SAAM efforts will also extend to Rota, where a Family Fun Day is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, 2026. Additional details will be announced as plans are finalized.

Bringing the campaign online, NMCADSV is launching the #30DaysOfSAAM Social Media Challenge, inviting the community to participate by creating and sharing content based on daily prompts throughout April, aligned with the national calendar developed by the National Sexual Violence Resource Center. The initiative promotes reflection, learning, and ongoing dialogue. Weekly prizes will be awarded based on engagement, with full guidelines available on NMCADSV’s social media platforms.
