Scheduled military training activity in the CNMI

(Press Release) — The Commonwealth Bureau of Military Affairs, under the Office of the Governor, wishes to inform the public of upcoming U.S. military training activities occurring in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands this week.

Helicopter Activity – Tinian North

Residents are advised that H-60 helicopter activity will take place around the Northern side of on Wednesday, Dec. 3, and Thursday, Dec. 4. As part of this operation, an insertion training exercise involving seven personnel will occur on Dec. 3. The team will traverse the Military Lease Area and remain overnight at Camp Tinian, before departing the island by air the following day, Dec. 4.

C-130 Training Flights – Guam to CNMI Airspace

From Dec. 4 through 5, several C-130 aircraft will conduct low-altitude training flights originating from Guam. These flights will operate at 1,000 feet or below, primarily offshore, to practice Christmas Drop training runs.

There are no planned landings in the CNMI and no actual package parachute drops scheduled during this period.

Training flights are expected between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on both days. While aircraft may be seen or heard, operations will remain offshore, and associated noise is not expected to pose any harm to residents or communities.

The Commonwealth Bureau of Military Affairs and the Office of the Governor appreciate the public’s understanding and cooperation during these scheduled activities.
