(CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management) — Based on information from the National Weather Service Guam and compiled by the CNMI Emergency Operations Center State Warning Point, a wind advisory is in effect.
What: East winds of 25 to 35 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph
Where: Saipan and Tinian
When: Until 7 p.m. Wednesday
Gusty winds may blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down, and isolated power outages are possible.
A strong shear line will bring windy conditions to Saipan and Tinian through Wednesday evening. Sustained winds may briefly fall below advisory criteria overnight but are expected to increase again to advisory levels Wednesday morning. Windy conditions are expected to return Thursday, and the advisory may need to be extended.
A wind advisory means sustained winds of 30 mph or greater are expected. Winds of this strength can make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.
Acting Gov. Dennis James C. Mendiola advises motorists to use extra caution, particularly on roads without center barriers and when passing high-profile vehicles.
