(NMCADSV) — The Northern Marianas Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, alongside its partners, invites the community to attend the 2026 Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month or TDVAM proclamation signing ceremony on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2026 at 10 a.m. in the cafeteria of Dandan Middle School.
The ceremony officially recognizes February as Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month in the CNMI, with the program led by Dandan Middle School students and featuring an inspirational guest speaker along with a special performance. Due to limited seating, attendees are encouraged to arrive early. The event will be livestreamed through Marianas Press and can be found on NMCADSV’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/EndViolenceNMI/.
Throughout February, NMCADSV will continue outreach efforts through educational presentations across middle and high schools. Schools are able to select from a presentation menu and schedule sessions throughout the month. “TDVAM equips our youth with tools to recognize healthy relationships and creates safe spaces for them to seek support and resources,” said Philip Santos, NMCADSV program coordinator and 2026 TDVAM co-chair.
Extending TDVAM conversations beyond schools and into the home, NMCADSV will host a parent-led radio talk show on KKMP. Tune in to 92.1 FM at 8 AM on Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2026, for a discussion focused on teen dating violence awareness, modeling healthy relationship behaviors, consent and boundaries, online safety for teens, and ways parents can support their children.
Later that week, outreach efforts will continue with a roadside waving event in collaboration with Dandan Middle School on Friday, Feb. 6, 2026 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. alongside the Beach Road pathway opposite the Modern Stationery Office in San Jose. Attendees are encouraged to wear orange, the official color of TDVAM, to spread awareness and stand in solidarity with youth.
In preparation for the annual “Know Your Worth” Art, Essay, and Spoken Word Competition, the Coalition will be hosting the Spoken Word Poetry Workshop on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Marianas Beach Resort ballroom. Middle and high school students are encouraged to register for a session designed to help them draft, refine, and build confidence in performing their pieces.
The 2026 “Know Your Worth” live competition will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2026 at 6 p.m. at the Royal Taga Ballroom, Saipan World Resort. Finalists in the Spoken Word category will perform their poetry live, and winners in all categories will be announced during the event. The competition is open to the public, with seating available on a first come, first served basis.
