Tsunami advisory is now in effect for the CNMI

A TSUNAMI ADVISORY IS AN ALERT LEVEL THAT MEANS STAY OUT OF WATER AND AWAY FROM THE SHORE.

Impacts:

* Sea level fluctuations that are generally no more than 3 feet above and below the tide level

* Minor flooding of beach and harbor areas

* Strong and unusual ocean currents in harbors, bays, and other near shore waters

This is not a full-scale evacuation. At this time, residents are advised to stay out of the water and continue monitoring updates and instructions from CNMI HSEM.
