ON Friday afternoon, community volunteer and Division of Parks and Recreation employee Max Aguon, along with co-worker Joe Agulto, found used motor oil dumped in a trash bin at Smiling Cove Marina. Aguon suspects it came from one of the boats at the marina.

Last month, Aguon discovered used motor oil and an oil filter dumped in a trash bin near the same area.

Aguon reiterated that improper disposal of used motor oil harms the environment, and he encourages residents to dispose of it properly.

“It’s really not good to throw it in the trash bin,” he added.

Asked where residents can dispose of used motor oil, Edward Ogo, Division of Environmental Quality Toxic Waste Program manager, provided a list of designated facilities allowed to collect, store, or burn used oil:

– Saipan Transfer Station in Lower Base.

– ARON Corporation. Call (670) 789-2541 or (670) 235-3053.

– Y.K. Sunshine Laundry. Call (670) 288-0471.

– FPA Corporation (Tinian). Call (670) 433-0422.
