JOBLESS residents in small claims and child support cases will be required to seek jobs through the Division of Employment Services to ensure that they meet their financial obligations.
DES Director Alfred Pangelinan said their office and the Superior Court had agreed to help jobless residents with pending small claims and child support cases find a job.
“It’s an order from the court. The court orders them to register with us so we could assist them to find a job,” Pangelinan said.
“They have to be really careful now because the judge is very serious about this,” he added.
Pangelinan said DES provides a report to the judge regarding the jobseeker’s efforts in finding a job.
“We’re helping them find a job so they can take care of their obligations. They should accept that job and they should never refuse,” he said.
About five people referred by the court to DES had found jobs, Pangelinan said.
