FRANCISCO M. Sablan Middle School in San Antonio was placed on lockdown Friday morning in response to a threat against the school, according to the Department of Public Safety.

Police and Commonwealth Ports Authority’s K9 unit conducted a search, and the community was told to stay clear of FMS until an all clear was announced.

Assistant Chief of Police Simon Manacop said the threat “was made through a note left in the restroom.”

At around 1 p.m., DPS announced an all clear, he said

“The students and staff are safe,” he added.

Last year, DPS took into custody a 13-year-old student after he threatened to bomb FMS.

On Sept. 17, 2023, DPS charged two male juveniles under 16 with “making a terroristic threat and conspiracy” after they made violent threats against the same school.

In January 2024, Chacha Ocean View Middle School in Kagman implemented lockdown measures after an unauthorized person entered the campus. One adult was charged for causing a disturbance.

In a previous statement, Yvonne R. Pangelinan, senior director for support services at the Public School System, said threats to schools — whether prank calls or otherwise — are taken seriously. She added that making threats to schools can also be a federal offense.
