‘Mahal’ forum on CW rule draws hundreds of nonresidents

Last Sunday, a forum for nonresidents was initiated by Mahal — which is Filipino for Love” — at the Kilili Beach pavilion in Susupe.

“Some raised questions about improved status and the uncertainty of their employment,” Reyes told Variety.

On Sept. 4, Reyes said he  explained the CW rule and read its Filipino version to more than 200 nonresidents.

About 70 percent of those who have attended the meetings were house workers while the other 30 percent belonged to different job categories, he said.

During the meeting Reyes also talked about manpower services which he established five years ago.

More than a hundred nonresidents expressed interest in submitting their applications to his manpower services, he added.

He said he created the manpower services to assist nonresidents and their employers in complying with the CW rule.

Reyes encouraged nonresident workers to start discussing the manpower services with their employers.

He said the concerns raised during the meetings will be consolidated and submitted for discussion with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
