The judge gave Basa credit for 59 days of time served.
Basa was also ordered to pay court costs in the amount of $25. His driver’s license is immediately revoked, but he can apply for its reinstatement six months after his release from prison.
Basa will be placed on three years’ probation and will pay restitution in the amount of $12,955.78 to the victim in the case.
Basa’s suspended sentence may be imposed in whole or in part if he violates any law or the Adult Probation Office rules.
Police said Basa, 68, tried to run over a man with a car and repeatedly rammed a parked vehicle in Kagman 3.
Basa was arrested for disturbing the peace, assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, and criminal mischief.
The information filed by the Office of the Attorney General on Aug. 11, 2020 charged Basa with assault with a dangerous weapon, two counts of assault, two counts of vandalism, disturbing the peace, driving without license, reckless driving, and theft of vehicle.
According to the plea agreement, upon acceptance of Basa’s guilty plea and a finding of guilt by the court, the Commonwealth will dismiss, with prejudice, all remaining counts of the amended information.
Basa, who has prior convictions, including for assault and disturbing the peace, faced a possible maximum sentence of 24 years and six months if he had gone to trial.
