Man arrested for assault and battery

Associate David A. Wiseman set bail at $6,000 cash and ordered the defendant, Dickson Cosmes, not to have any direct or indirect contact with the victim, Antonio Mendiola Camacho.

Wiseman said the court will appoint a counsel for the defendant, an indigent who cannot be represented by the Public Defender’s Office due to a conflict.

Wiseman set the preliminary hearing for June 3 and the arraignment for June 8 at 9 a.m.

Detective Simon T. Manacop filed an affidavit in court stating that the Department of Public Safety received a call from the Commonwealth Health Center about an assault and battery complaint at about 3:50 a.m. on May 23.

Manacop said the responding police officer met the 43-year-old victim who had a swollen and bleeding left eye.

The victim, who also complained of body pain, told police that he was beaten up and threatened to be killed by the defendant.

Manacop learned that the victim picked up Cosmes at his residence in San Jose and joined other friends at the 13 Fishermen’s Memorial in Garapan where they had a drink.

The victim said later, Cosmes accused him of treating the defendant badly.

He said Cosmes took him to Tank Beach where he, the victim, was assaulted by the defendant.
