Superior Court Associate Judge Kenneth Govendo set a $1,250 cash bail for Defang who was remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections.
Police said a security guard at Cool Laundry in Fina Sisu village reported to the Department of Public Safety a disturbance in one of the apartments on the second floor.

Defang refused to open the door but the victim later rushed out and responding officers saw Defang inside the apartment holding a knife to his neck, police said.
They learned that Defang was told by the victim that she was cooking for her new boyfriend who was about to arrive.
