Lucio O. Yasona was arrested on the charge of assault with a dangerous weapon, and assault and battery.
Detective Jonathan Decena said Yasona punched his partner because “his name was not mentioned, nor was he recognized” during the defendant’s birthday party.
Police from the Koban substation responded to a disturbance call made from an apartment complex in Garapan.
Police were met by a female juvenile who told the officers that she was being chased by her step-father, Yasona, who was armed with a knife.
Prior to the incident, a birthday party was being held for Yasona.
Yasona later became very angry and violent, “calling his partner names and cussing her in a Filipino dialect,” police said.
Yasona also threatened to kill his partner, police added.
The female juvenile woke up after hearing the commotion, and saw her mother screaming for her help.
Armed with a knife, Yasona met his step-daughter who ran out of the apartment room.
Yasona locked the door, leaving him with the juvenile’s mother.
Police said Yasona attempted to stab the victim several times.
Superior Court Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo required Yasona to post $600 or 10 percent of the $6,000 bail, and the remaining amount should be posted as an unsecured or appearance bond.
