Man arrested for punching police sergeant

PERRY Tudela is accused of punching a female police sergeant in the face.

Tudela, 40, will appear today, Tuesday, April 16, for a preliminary hearing before Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho.

The defendant was charged with disturbing the peace, and assault and battery.

According to the complaint against Tudela, on April 7, the Department of Public Safety dispatched units to a reported disturbing the peace incident in Dandan.

Responding police officers separated the couple involved.

While being interviewed by the police, Tudela said, “Why is she laughing at me, see what the military does? Her PTSD is showing!” referring to the woman he was arguing with.

The female DPS sergeant told Tudela — who was being interviewed by other responding police officers — that the woman was not laughing at him.

Police said Tudela pointed his index finger directly in front of the female DPS sergeant’s nose, and said in Chamorro, “Shut your mouth!”

Police said when the female DPS sergeant moved Tudela’s hand away from her face, Tudela punched her on her lower left jaw with a closed fist using his right hand.

Responding medics observed that the female DPS sergeant had a small reddish and blue mark on her lower left jaw area and a cut on her inner left lip.

Tudela was arrested and transported to the Department of Corrections where he was booked and detained.

His bail was set at $3,000 cash.
