ZACHARY Peter Manglona, a resident of Tinian, at around 2:46 a.m. on Oct. 10, called the Department of Public Safety on Saipan, saying he would commit a crime, but hung up before DPS could get more information.
Saipan DPS then informed the Tinian DPS front desk about Manglona’s call.
At around 2:47 a.m. Manglona’s ex-girlfriend called Tinian DPS requesting police assistance to locate a vehicle that she said was stolen from her residence by Manglona.
On Wednesday, Manglona, 24, appeared before Superior Court Associate Judge Wesley Bogdan for a bail hearing.
Manglona was charged with burglary, assault, disturbing the peace, and theft of vehicle.
Judge Bogdan imposed $10,000 cash bail on Manglona and remanded him to the custody of the Department of Correction.
The defendant was ordered to return to court on Oct. 25 at 10 a.m. for a preliminary hearing, and on Oct. 30 at 9 a.m. for an arraignment.
Manglona was represented by the Public Defender’s Office while Chief Prosecutor Chester Hinds appeared for the government.
According to the complaint against Manglona, he broke into his ex-girlfriend’s house through the bathroom window.
The victim told Tinian police that he was asleep with her two minor children in the bedroom and was woken up when she felt someone tapping on her thighs.
She said she saw Manglona standing beside her bed.
She said she followed Manglona to the living room area and told him to leave her residence.
She said Manglona asked her about a man she had been dating.
The victim said Manglona told her that if he did not go to jail that night, he would kill her.
She said Manglona went back to the bedroom, took the keys from the vanity table and left the house with her mother’s vehicle that she had borrowed. She then called for police assistance as she was very afraid and feared for her safety and her children.
The victim said her relationship with Manglona ended last year and that he is the biological father of her two minor children.
