Man charged with indecent exposure, sexual assault of a minor

ZACARIAS Igisomar, 49, told police that he did not knowingly expose himself to two minors, saying he was drinking alcohol and had unintentionally exposed his privates.

Igisomar, also known as Kalle, was charged with sexual assault in the second degree, sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree, indecent exposure in the second degree, and disturbing the peace.

He was in the custody of the Department of Corrections when he appeared before Superior Court Associate Judge Lillian Tenorio at a bail hearing on Wednesday.

Igisomar was represented by Assistant Public Defender Charlene Brown while Assistant Attorney General David Karch appeared for the government.

Judge Tenorio imposed a $50,000 cash bail on Igisomar, and remanded him to the custody of Corrections after the hearing. She ordered the defendant to return to court for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 30 at 10 a.m., and on Sept. 16 at 9 a.m. for an arraignment.

According to the complaint against Igisomar, on Aug. 11, 2024, police were dispatched to a residence for an indecent exposure incident.

A minor had told a Division of Youth Services forensic investigator that she woke up that morning with her jean romper’s zipper down to her lower belly area, exposing her chest. She looked around and saw her mom’s boyfriend, his eyes closed, sitting on a couch across from her and her sister’s bed. She said she got scared, pretended to be asleep, and covered her face with her hair.

A few minutes later, she said she saw Igisomar standing over her and her sister. She saw Igisomar walk to the corner of the bed where her sister was lying. She said she got up and asked Igisomar what he was doing. She said she saw Igisomar’s zipper was down and he had exposed himself.

She said Igisomar told her, “It’s nothing, baby.”

She told police that as soon as she got up, Igisomar sat down on the corner of the bed near her sister’s feet and covered his crotch area with his hand as if he were zipping up his pants.

She said she asked him why he was inside her grandmother’s house.

She told police that there were other incidents in the past when Igisomar made her and her sisters feel uncomfortable.

She said she often stayed up all night to ensure that her sisters were safe from Igisomar. She said she never felt truly safe around Igisomar and usually feared he would hurt her and her sisters.

Another individual who lived in the same house told investigators that when he opened the bedroom door, he saw the minor crying while Igisomar sat on the corner of the girls’ bed with his hands covering the lower part of his stomach as if he were trying to zip up his pants.

The individual asked Igisomar what he was doing inside the house uninvited and why he was exposing himself to the girls. He said Igisomar responded, “No, it’s not like that.”

The other minor girl told police that when her sister woke her up, she saw Igisomar standing at the corner of the bed where she and her sister slept. She said she noticed that Igisomar’s zipper was down and his privates were sticking out.

She said her sister questioned Igisomar about his zipper being down.

Police also interviewed an older sister of the girls, who said that in Sept. 2023, she fell asleep in Igisomar’s house where he had been drinking alcohol that night. She said she woke up to Igisomar lying on top of her. She asked him what he was doing. She said he replied, “Oh, you’re awake?” She said he then got off her and acted like nothing happened. Since then, she said, she had not felt safe around Igisomar.

In another incident, she said she woke up to find that Igisomar was squeezed between her and her sister on their bed. When they asked Igisomar what he was doing, he said he was just there.

In yet another incident, she said she fell asleep while watching TV and woke up when he felt someone touching her chest. When she woke up, she said, she saw Igisomar standing behind her in his underwear.

In an interview with the police regarding the Aug. 11 incident, Igisomar said when the minor woke up and asked him why his zipper was down, he denied it. He said he sat on the corner of the bed and pulled his zipper back up.

Igisomar said he realized that he had exposed himself unintentionally. He said he had been drinking alcohol that night and did not recall how he got in the house.

Igisomar said he has no issues with his girlfriend or her daughters and does not understand why they would accuse him of inappropriately touching them.
