Vinny Untalan
VINNY Untalan was charged with illegal possession of a controlled substance after his arrest for the theft of coins worth $10.50 at a Laundromat in Chalan Kanoa, the Department of Public Safety said.
In a statement on Wednesday, Assistant Chief of Police Simon Manacop said, “At 10:48 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024, a theft incident was reported at the White Laundry located along Dr. Torres Drive, Chalan Kanoa.”
Police “learned from the laundry attendant that while she was behind a store counter, a male person had asked to use the telephone. The attendant stepped out of the counter to attend to some drying machines. When she returned to the counter, she discovered a bag of coins containing $10.50 in quarters missing. Upon reviewing the establishment’s surveillance system, [she learned that] the male person who had asked to use the telephone earlier was responsible for taking the bag of coins,” Manacop said.
At about 11:30 a.m., a police officer “made contact with the male person who matched the description on the surveillance recording, walking along Beach Road [in] Chalan Piao by Subway restaurant. This person was identified as Mr. Vinny Untalan. He was arrested for theft and transported to the Department of Corrections,” Manacop added.
He said that during the booking process, a search of the arrestee’s bag led to the discovery of drug paraphernalia, such as a used glass pipe, and small clear Ziploc bags, which contained substance that tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine.
“Mr. Untalan was additionally charged for illegal possession of a controlled substance,” Manacop said.
