Man gets 55-day jail term for ‘ice’ trafficking

Associate Judge David A. Wiseman imposed the jail term on Greg Twelbang Magofna with three years supervised probation and with credit for time served. He was also subjected to several conditions set by the court. This includes paying a fine of $2,000, assessment fee of $100 and a probation service fee of $100 a year.

Magofna will undergo routine and random drug test, refrain from drinking alcohol, undergo substance abuse counseling, and obey all federal and commonwealth laws.  

He will perform 100 hours of community work service.

Magofna appeared in court for yesterday’s hearing with Assistant Public Defender Janet King. The government was represented by Assistant Attorney General Timothy M. Connor.

Magofna pleaded guilty to the charges of illegal possession of controlled substance controlled substance, an offense which carries a term of imprisonment from 30 days to five years, a fine of not more than $2,000, or both.

The stipulation in the plea agreement stated that in exchange, the commonwealth would dismiss the remaining charges for one count of trafficking of a controlled substance.

Magofna was arrested in December for ice trafficking. He denied the charges during the arraignment on Jan. 22, 2008.

A cooperating source  bought ice from Magofna during two separate buy-bust operations at Candy’s Poker in Tanapag.
