Man in assault case pleads guilty

Bernard Sebangiol appeared for a change of plea hearing on Thursday before Associate Judge David A. Wiseman and pleaded guilty to a lesser offense of assault. The government agreed to dismiss the other count of assault with a dangerous weapon.

Wiseman sentenced Sebangiol to six months of imprisonment, all suspended except for 90 days with credit for time served.

Sebangiol was placed on probation for two years. He will pay a fine of $500 and a probation fee to be assessed by the Office of Adult Probation. He will submit an apology letter to the victim and stay away from him.

Sebangiol was charged for assaulting Roland Capayas with a 4×4 and spear gun on March 8, 2008.
