Superior Court Judge David A. Wiseman retained the $10,000 bail order on Feng Xiang Yang, 45, who is being held on charges of four counts of contempt.
Wiseman remanded Yang to the custody of the Department of Corrections after the defendant’s initial appearance and bail hearing yesterday morning.
Detective Jonathan Decena said he was contacted by the victim advocate office of the Attorney General’s Office because Yang contacted his victim through phone calls or through an intermediary.
The victim immediately hanged up the phone upon learning Yang was at the other end. The victim was scared, and she reported the incident to 911.
The victim was also visited by a friend of Yang who wanted to apologize for the incident.
The same friend of the defendant returned, this time, with fruits and asked the victim how much money would it take to have the case dropped, police said.
The defendant’s friend, when interviewed by police, said Yang wanted to know how much medical expenses were incurred for the victim’s injuries.
Last August, Yang was arrested for hitting the victim’s head with a hammer. Yang fixed the victim’s broken sewing machine prior to the incident.
