Investigation by the Department of Public Safety disclosed that prior to the incident, Asack was on his scooter, headed southward along Middle Road in Chalan Laulau when he noticed another vehicle traveling on the opposite lane.
Asack told police that the vehicle later pulled alongside of him that almost caused him to crash.
“In a reckless manner, the vehicle then sped away,” DPS spokesman PO2 Eric David said, adding that Asack identified the vehicle’s operator as Franklin Crisostimo.
Fearing for his safety, Asack pulled up in the parking lot of the Taste of India Restaurant and attempted to call the police for assistance.
But he also noticed the same vehicle pulling into the same parking lot.
The suspect alighted his vehicle, swung a machete while shouting: “I’m gonna’ kill you!”
Asack ran toward the main highway of Middle Road where the driver of another passing vehicle pulled over and gave him a ride, police said.
The vehicle managed to get away from the suspect, but sustained minor dents and scratches to its hood and roof, police added.
