Man who molested stepdaughter gets 8 years without parole

Langu will pay a $2,500 fine, court costs, and a probation fee to be determined by the Adult Probation Office. The court credited time served by Langu since April 4, 2011.

Upon release from prison, Langu will be placed on 10 years’ probation, and will not have any contact with his victim during his probationary period. He will register as a sex offender and pay restitution to his victim in an amount to be determined by the Adult Probation Office.

He will undergo counseling on anger management and alcohol/substance abuse at the Community Guidance Center. He will complete any suggested course of treatment.

As part of the plea agreement, the prosecution moved for the dismissal of the other charges: criminal mischief, disturbing the peace, and another count of sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree.

Assistant Public Defender Douglas Hartig served as counsel for Langu while Assistant Attorney General Eileen Escudero Wisor represented the government.

The victim, now 18, told authorities she was first sexually molested by Langu when she was in the third grade. She was eight years old at the time.
