Man who stole laptop to change plea

Currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections, the 24-yar-old Castro was charged with theft and burglary. He earlier pleaded not guilty.

Associate Judge Ramona V. Manglona set the change of plea hearing after a status conference between Assistant Attorney General Benjamin Petersburg, the prosecutor, and Assistant Public Defender Richard Miller, defense counsel for Castro.

The Attorney General’s Office said in its complaint that Castro entered the Eucon International School dormitory in Gualo Rai on July 17, 2010, and stole a laptop.

In June 2007, Castro was sentenced to five years, all suspended, except for six months after he pleaded guilty to theft.

He was also sentenced six months concurrent after he admitted violating his probation.

Castro was placed on a five-year probation after his release from prison.
