Manamko’ celebrate Mother’s Day with gubernatorial team

Aside from four courses of meal, which included fried rice and juice, the manamko’ were also given baskets of food.

Guerrero and Camacho personally handed the baskets of food, containing fruit and assorted items, to each of the senior citizen in the center’s activity hall.

“This Sunday is Mother’s Day and we want to make sure that the manamko’ will observe that special day. We served them food and food baskets to let them know that there are people out there who care and are very supportive of the manamko’,” Guerrero said.

He said recognizing the manamko’ is part of local culture.

Camacho, for his part, said his family has just observed the first death anniversary of their mother and visiting the manamko’ was “one way of showing our appreciation to my mother who’s no longer here.”

“This is more of a social and community gathering rather than a political event,” Camacho said.

He said they’ve been talking with many of the senior citizens regarding their concerns and needs.

The manamko’ spoke about the need to assign a regular nurse and an additional doctor to the Aging Center, he added.

Aging Center acting Director Rose DLG. Mondala said Guerrero and Camacho offered to prepare breakfast for the manamko’.

“This is really good and I hope other organizations will come also to provide food to the manamko’,” she said.

She said yesterday’s breakfast meant a lot to the senior citizens.

Today, Mondala said the senior citizens will be at different government offices to mark Manamko’ Takeover Day.
