Manamko’ celebrate Valentine’s Day

“We are doing a program for Valentine’s Day —  a party. We’re doing it earlier so that they can all participate.  We have dancing and games,” said Office on Aging acting director Rose Mondala

The senior citizens played a memory game to exercise the mind.  “Whenever I come up with games for the manamko’ I try to incorporate a therapeutic exercise,” said program coordinator Walter Manglona.

Most of the manamko’ joined the “heart game” during which a heart-shaped piece of paper was torn into two pieces.

A participant had to look for the other piece of the broken heart to be able to win.

The manamko’ also played “soul mates” which involved six pairs who tried to find out if they were soul mates through word matches.

A prize was given to the best dressed male and female senior citizens during the party, and the winners were Rita Flawau and Jesus Defan.

All the prizes were donated by the senior citizens themselves while the cake for the party was provided by Mondala.

This week, the manamko’ will  perform a cultural dance number at Marianas High School during its Cultural Day.

“We give them different activities so that they can stay active,” said Mondala, referring to the senior citizens.
