THE Manta Ray Concert Band of Saipan Southern High School band will perform in a concert at the multi-purpose center in Susupe tomorrow evening, Jan. 29, as part of its fundraising activities.
Will DeWitt, the band conductor, said the concert is in partnership with the P’Art Music Academy and Jun Ho Park.
To be featured on this one-night-only performance will be the pageantry and choreography of the Korean traditional dance troupe.
“This group performs annually in the CNMI, and the event is sure to be a hit once again in 2010,” DeWitt said.
The band will have the privilege of opening for the Korean dancers, he added.
He said the talented and dedicated band members will entertain and amaze the audience with selections from their Carnegie repertoire, including John Barnes Chance’s “Elegy,” Sousa’s “Invincible Eagle,” and a perennially popular opener known as “Alvamar Overture.”
DeWitt said another Southern High School band under the direction of student conductor Joseph Jang will make a cameo appearance during the concert.
The multi-purpose center will open its doors at 7 p.m., and the entertainment will start at 7:30 pm.
Tickets are $1 for students and $3 for adults.
“A sell-out is likely, so we are encouraging everybody to come early,” DeWitt said.
He is extending his thanks to the community for supporting arts education in the CNMI.
