Marianas Seaside sued over rent payments

A LANDOWNER who filed an $11.7 million lawsuit against U.S. District Court Judge Alex R. Munson and a lawyer has also sued a private corporation for allegedly not paying rent.

John S. Pangelinan, in a pro se complaint, asked the Superior Court to order Marianas Seaside Development Corp. to pay him $31,661 in rent.

No one at Marianas Seaside Development was available for comment yesterday.

Pangelinan said that in Jan. 1996 he and his wife, as landlords, entered into a lease contract with Saipan Cable TV as tenant for the 1,401 sq. meters of land in Garapan.

Pangelinan said that in 1997, with their approval, Saipan Cable TV assigned all its rights under the lease agreement and conveyed the land to Marianas Cable Vision Inc.

MCV in 1998 assigned all its rights under the lease agreement and conveyed the land to Marianas Seaside Development.

Last May 27, his wife assigned to him all her rights to all rent payments arising under the lease agreement, said Pangelinan, who is based in the State of Washington.

Beginning July 1, 2001 up until the filing date of this complaint, Marianas Seaside Development had not paid rent to him, Pangelinan said in the lawsuit filed last week.

In his lawsuit filed on Monday in federal court, Pangelinan sued Munson and attorney Charles Rotbart for allegedly depriving him of his real properties on Saipan.
