TWO nuns reported to the police that they discovered a marijuana plantation near the Maturana House of Prayer in Navy Hill on Monday morning.
Sisters Isabel Seman and Martha T. Ranarui led police officers to a bushy area north of the retreat center where 17 marijuana plants were found.
Police confiscated four marijuana plants placed in aluminum cans and 13 others in plastic flower pots. In the area, two five-gallon water were also found.
Public Safety spokesman Lt. Pete C. Muna said that according to the report, the sisters noticed that a portion of the fence at Maturana was damaged. A pathway was also found leading to the bushy area.
The sisters followed the pathway and saw the marijuana plants located 30 feet north of the fence line.
Police has conducted a follow-up investigation to determine who cultivated the marijuana plants.
In other news, a Japanese family fell prey to burglars at Ladder Beach on Monday afternoon.
The victims lost two bags, two cameras, memory disc cards, guide book, keys, towel, and other items.
Investigation showed that a couple along with their kid went to the beach for sight-seeing.
A Commonwealth Ports Authority cop who went to the area noticed a car that was damaged.
The CPA officer activated his siren to get the attention of the tourists.
When the tourists went back to their rented car, they found that the rear window of the vehicle was broken and the items they left on the passenger seat were already gone.
Many tourists have been victimized by burglars at Ladder Beach over the past six months. Concerned people have urged the police to conduct an operation to get these Ladder Beach thieves.
