The Micronesian Islands Nature Alliance has offered a multilingual homeschooling resource that focuses on marine debris.

MINA said the lesson plan was developed with funding from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association in 2017.
The lesson titled, “Growing and Strengthening a Culture of Recycling to Reduce Marine Debris in Saipan’s Waters” is available online in three separate videos, one for each of the three official languages of the CNMI: Carolinian, Chamorro, and English.
The lesson highlights the effects that marine debris has on the ocean surrounding the CNMI, as well as the importance of bolstering recycling in the nation.
Although brief, the videos present topics on marine life conservation and the responsibility of the community to protect ocean life.
MINA’s efforts to expand environmental awareness and educate schools on environmental conservation can also be found through its Schools for Environmental Conservation Program.
The program “engages both high school and middle school students and teachers through physical and relevant environmental science education.”
In a workshop held earlier this year, select students and teachers created conservation action plans that entailed strategies to address current environmental impacts on coral reefs.
