She said that it took about 55 loads of coral to fix the road, including filling the pot holes.
“They worked on the roads for eight working days, working pass 5 p.m. to ensure the safety of the public on this traditional holy event,” she said.
The mayor’s office was assisted by Reps. Ralph N. Yumul, Francisco S. Dela Cruz, Edmund S. Villagomez, Hawaiian Rock and the Department of Public Works.
Seman said the mayor’s office will also provide fruits and water to members of the public who will walk all the way to the summit of Mount Tapochau.
The refreshments will be provided by IP&E, City Trust Bank, Villagomez, Rep. Ramon S. Basa, Saipan Machine Shop, Auto Marine, Sars Auto Repair, Congresman Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan, Marianas Exchange, Ray Tenorio and JG Sablan Ice & Water Co., which will provide ice.
In his Holy Week message, Mayor Flores said: “Today is a day when we remember the Lord Jesus Christ and His sacrifice he made for us when He died on the cross at Calvary. Along with my staff and their families, we would like to wish everyone a safe trek up Mt. Tapochau as we partake in this traditional holy event.”
He added, “We have done the best we could with the limited resources by ensuring the roads are accessible and safe. May the Lord bless us all and as we observe this day of mourning; and later celebrate the joy of Easter this coming Sunday.”
