Mayor’s office hosts appreciation party for Korean performers

“We just want to extend our utmost appreciation to the group,” Mayor Donald Flores said.

The group arrived here on Saturday and left Saipan yesterday. While here, they also performed at the Korean Presbyterian Church in Garapan.

The group consisted of 80 performers with the Daejeon Rainbow Little Singers and Vincero Voice Ensemble, Sang Myung University Nam Jin Hee Modern Dance Company, Ha Eun Ha and You Young Ju Modern Dance Company, Kyung Min University Hong Sung Hee Modern Dance Company and Soback Dance Theater.

Jun Ho Park, P’Art Music Academy president, coordinated their visit. He  said the performers were very happy to join the island’s Liberation festivities.

“We will bring 200 performers next year,” he told Variety.

Flores said he is hoping the visit of the Korean performers will lead to more visits in the future.

The mayor said  Korea has been sending performers to Saipan for over 16 years now.

“We are grateful to them,” Flores added.

At the appreciation party, the mayor’s office prepared local food, drinks and refreshment for the performers and their instructors.

Liberation Queen Joni C. Castro, Royal Princess Nizelynn Masayos and 1st Runner-up Mariah Ada greeted the performers with seashell leis.
