Amber Mendiola-Romolor
(CHCC) — The Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation congratulates its Non-Communicable Disease Program administrator, Amber Mendiola-Romolor, on being appointed a new member of the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors or NACDD board.
NACDD’s core membership is composed of the 59 state and territorial health department chronic disease directors and their staff who protect the health of the public through primary and secondary prevention efforts and work “upstream” on root causes of chronic conditions.
In addition, NACDD unites 7,000 chronic disease professionals across the United States working in state, tribal, and territorial health departments, nonprofits, academia, and the private industry to promote health and to reduce the burden of chronic disease.
The Pacific Chronic Disease Council is a group of representatives from the United States Affiliated Pacific Islands. The council strives to bridge the gap in health disparities by reducing the chronic disease burden, mobilizing resources, and recognizing the uniqueness of our communities and its people.
The Pacific Chronic Disease Council has 10 members that represent their respected jurisdictions:
• Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands
• America Samoa
• Guam
• Federated States of Micronesia
• Chuuk
• Kosrae
• Pohnpei
• Yap
• Republic of Palau
• Republic of the Marshall Islands
“I am truly honored to have the opportunity to serve on the board of directors for the National Association of Chronic Disease Directors. The faith and backing of my colleagues across the nation are deeply meaningful to me.” Amber stated. “I am excited about advocating for health equity and justice, not only for the CNMI, but for all Pacific Island communities in the region. It is truly humbling to be able to continue serving my community and to contribute to the advancement of nationwide initiatives. The board of directors plays a vital role in shaping strategic direction and working towards fulfilling NACDD’s mission, all with the aim of reducing the burden of chronic diseases across the nation,” she added.
The NACDD’s council develops input, feedback, and perspective on the policy, leadership, and management of coordinated chronic disease prevention and health promotion to address chronic non-communicable diseases and associated risk factors in the United States Affiliated Pacific Islands jurisdictions.
