Elsa Duenas, one of the reunion event coordinators, said the gathering was scheduled from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. but ended just a little before 9 p.m.
“Everybody was having a nice time meeting each other again after several years, and reminiscing the past,” Duenas said.
Only a handful of the over 300 graduates of 1986 showed up but the event was still worth it, she said.
“A lot of our classmates are already on the mainland, but others really made the effort to come and join us,” she said.
Over 150 people including the family members showed up during the reunion.
“We keep in touch with each other online and keep tabs on each other’s whereabouts as much as we can. We are very thankful for those who made it because it will be another five years before we will have another class reunion — this time for the 30th in 2016,” Duenas said.
Sylvan Tudela, who served the U.S. Navy after graduating from high school, said he had a great time seeing his classmates again.
Tudela, who has been with the Navy for the past 26 years, said class reunions are one of the things he looks forward to.
“It’s great to see everybody again after five years,” he said.
Tudela’s last visit to the island was in 1996 to join the 20th class reunion.
The 25th reunion activities started with an early morning Mass at the Kristo Rai Church in Garapan on Saturday, where members paid tribute to nine classmates who have passed away.
“To everyone who showed up, thank you for joining the fun, the dancing and the entertainment and for adding to our class memories,” Duenas said.
