The trees were “threatening the” power lines of the Commonwealth Utilities Corp., MHS principal Cherlyn Cabrera told Variety.
“We are not anti-trees,” she added, as she noted the criticism against then-MHS principal Craig Garrison for the trees on campus that were cut down.
Cabrera said she requested CUC to help the school trim the trees in preparation for the opening of classes.
“This is a combined effort of the Public School System and CUC,” she added.
Harry “Spike” Speicher, Pacific Lineman Training director and the trainer of CUC lineman, supervised the trimming operation.
Cabrera said the school will regularly trim the trees and cut those infested with fungus.
