Frankie Castillo, a resident of Dandan and driver/car washer at Microl Corp., said he found it hard to believe that his ticket number 5988, one of the 10 he bought from Saipan Rotary Club president Glen Perez, would be the winning ticket.
Since he wrote on his raffle stub the telephone number of his sister’s office in Gualo Rai which was close for the weekend, no one was able to contact him earlier about the good news.
“I guess I would go for the cash this time,” said Castillo, who has been living and working on Saipan for the past 23 years.
He said he did not make it to Las Vegas Night on Saturday because he was not feeling well.
Castillo also won the grand prize — a video camera — during the Christmas party of Microl last December.
Saipan Tribune reporter Clarissa David’s ticket number 1166 won the second prize of $2,500 cash. Ticket number 7349 holder Marilyn Jones of As Lito won the third prize of $1,500 cash, while Joseph Pangelinan’s ticket number 7638 won the $750 fourth prize. Ticket number 4308 holder Gilbert Fauni won the fifth prize of $500, while ticket number 1871 holder Florencio T. Vicentillo got the $250 sixth prize.
Hundreds turned up for the 2011 Las Vegas Night which was scheduled earlier this year compared to the past years.
Tables were filled as players tried their luck with the different games including Black Jack, Craps, Roulette, Texas Hold ‘Em Poker and Kina, which is another form of Bingo.
Lucky individuals also went home with various door prizes courtesy of the event sponsors.
Las Vegas Night is the biggest fundraiser of the Saipan Rotary Club each year. All proceeds from the event will benefit different community projects.
Tickets cost $5 each and $20 for each booklet of five tickets.
