MOBIL Oil Marianas on Wednesday reduced its gasoline prices — the second rollback this month.
Shell Marianas is expected to follow suit.
The regular gasoline price on Saipan went down at 4 p.m. Wednesday to $5.46 a gallon from $5.56 a gallon while the premium gas price went down to $5.91 a gallon from $6.01 a gallon. The diesel price is still $5.73 a gallon.
Tinian Fuel Services implemented the price rollback on May 8, 2024. Its regular gas price was $7.49 a gallon and the diesel price was $7.78 a gallon. It has yet to implement the latest price rollback.
On Rota, Calvo Enterprises reduced its regular gas price on Wednesday to $6.94 a gallon from $7.04 a gallon, but the diesel price remained $10.17 a gallon.
Commonwealth Ports Authority’s Airport Manager Frank Duenas, who buys $80 to $90 worth of gas every two weeks for his personal vehicle, said fuel price rollbacks help the public.
“Every penny helps. You save more money and get to pay more for other stuff, rather than spending everything when filling up your vehicle tank,” he said.
CPA Executive Director Leo Tudela, who spends about $70 on gas every 10 days, said it’s a wonderful thing to hear about fuel prices going down. “It gives us more purchasing power with our other needs,” he added.
According to Reuters, oil prices “settled lower on Tuesday, after U.S. data stoked concerns that interest rates may stay high, but potential risks to supply from Mideast tensions and wildfires in Canada put a floor under prices.”
“Brent crude futures settled down 98 cents, or 1.18% at $82.38 a barrel. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures settled down $1.10, or 1.39% at $78.02 a barrel,” Reuters reported.
