MS Artania
(MVA) — On the heels of two cruise ship arrivals already this year, the Marianas Visitors Authority is preparing for two more port calls in the next two weeks.
The MS (not MSC) Artania is scheduled to stop in the Port of Saipan for the day on Monday, Feb. 26, with 1,039 passengers and 531 crewmembers aboard. The Asuka II will make port for the day on March 4, 2024, with 710 passengers and 500 crewmembers aboard.
“We invite the local community and businesses to join us in welcoming the passengers and crew of ships making port calls in the Marianas — these include cruise ships, military ships, research vessels, and others,” said MVA Managing Director Christopher A. Concepcion. “We know the Marianas could be their most meaningful and enjoyable stops, given our natural beauty, rich history, and the friendliness of our community, especially. Let’s collectively welcome these guests and have them leave our islands with fond memories of the warm hospitality our people are known for.”
A majority of passengers of MS Artania are European, while a majority of passengers of Asuka II are Japanese. Businesses — especially those in Garapan — are advised to prepare for an influx of visitors on these days. Approximately 6,000 visitors have arrived in Saipan via cruise ship so far this year.
