Motion to compel discovery in Garapan insurance fire lawsuit granted

Manglona directed Zheng Rui to produce the retainer agreement with its attorney, saying it is “relevant to deciding such a claim and therefore discoverable.”

Zheng Rui earlier argued the retainer agreement is protected by the attorney-client privilege.

The court ruled Firstnet conferred in good faith before moving to compel discovery, adding Zheng Rui “must answer all interrogatories.”

FirstNet Insurance is asking the federal court to determine its rights and obligations under the policy, valued at $405,346.

Zheng Rui valued its loss at $404,718.53, and is claiming fire insurance.

Zheng Rui, however, failed to present documentation supporting its valuation, according to court records.

Attorney Ramon K. Quichocho represents Zheng Rui Brother Corp. while FirstNet Insurance Co. is represented by attorney Richard W. Pierce.
