Muna, Camacho top Chacha students

“With your support they will finish,” he added.

This year, the Principal’s Leadership Award went to Akioni  Babauta, Dorothy Jebehn, and Lawrence Camacho.

The highest honor, the Board of Education Award, went to Michaelle Muna, while Andrea Juanette R. Camacho received the Commissioner’s Award, the second highest honor.

Besides Muna and Camacho, the top 10 students were Dorothy E. Jebehn, Elvin R. Quitugua, Justin Arangorin, Rilaena Babauta, Akioni Babauta, Mona Monique Indalecio, Kayla Borja  and Andrea S. Camacho.

Aldreen Adriano received an honorable mention.

In her valedictory address, Muna said the things that they have learned in Chacha are what they will need to succeed in high school.

“We take our first step toward the next level. We’ve all worked hard and I’m proud to say that it finally paid off,” she said.

Muna also received certificates for excellence in social studies, science and algebra.

Other students who received subject awards were Justin Arangorin for language arts; Rilaena Babauta, computer applications; April Cabrera, Chamorro language and heritage studies; and Liyelmatua Gideon, Carolinian language and heritage studies.

Of the 147 promoted students,  22 were Gold Presidential Education Award recipients while 47 received the Silver Presidential Education Award.

Teacher Michael Mercado, the master of ceremony, read a message from President  Obama:

“Nothing is more important to our nation’s long-term success than preparing our future leaders for the world they will inherit. We face great challenges as a country, and we will need young people like you to take up these challenges and make them your own.”

Alisa Pangelinan assisted Mercado as mistress of ceremony.
