Muna urges community to help secure CUC

The community, he added, should help secure CUC’s facilities, particularly their copper wire.

“They should help protect these public properties,” he said as he urged members of the community to also provide information to the police regarding copper wire thieves.

He said every loss of property will mean an additional cost to CUC.

CUC power division manager Gary Camacho said they have lost a substantial volume of copper wire already.

CUC has sufficient supply of copper wire for replacement but Camacho said they have to minimize their losses.

He said CUC is working with the Attorney General’s Office to go after  copper wire thieves.

These theft incidents may cause power outages and eventually affect the water supply, Muna said.

However, compared to the previous years, the number of copper wire theft cases is down nowadays because the community is more vigilant, he added.

He urged CUC customers to report any theft of copper wire and other CUC equipment.

Muna said he is hoping the Department of Public Safety will be successful in its operations against thieves and other criminals.
