THE Museum of History and Culture plans to hire an award-winning scientist to do a facial reconstruction of an early Chamorro that will be displayed at the museum.
“It would be very interesting. At least, the people would have an idea what an ancient Chamorro looks like,” Museum Board of Governors Chairman Herman T. Guerrero said in an interview.
He said the museum would need over $5,000 for the project.
The museum intends to commission Sharon Long, a biologist and anthropologist specializing in facial reconstruction.
“She’s done great work for other people from other places,” Guerrero said.
He said the museum explores many ways to boost its possessions to better reflect the CNMI’s history and culture.
Museum curator Gigi York aims to rearrange the museum exhibits to highlight artifacts depicting the early life of Chamorros and Carolinians.
York is working on getting grants to fund the improvement projects in the museum.
