(MVA) — Do you have a bold idea or business that could enhance the visitor experience? This is your opportunity to help shape the future of tourism in The Marianas.
The Marianas Visitors Authority, in collaboration with the CNMI Small Business Development Center, has launched Mafuti Tank, a pitch competition designed to transform innovative ideas and strengthen existing businesses into products, services, or experiences that inspire visitors and build demand for the islands.
“Visitors today are looking for ways to connect with our islands and our people on a deeper level. They want more things to do while visiting, whether that’s trying local food, learning a tradition, or discovering something completely new,” said MVA Managing Director Jamika R. Taijeron. “Mafuti Tank gives entrepreneurs and businesses an outlet to launch those ideas or expand existing ones, while gaining visibility to the tourists who are actively seeking authentic experiences in The Marianas.”
What’s in it for you?
Winners will receive:
• Expert mentorship to refine their vision
• Capacity-building support to grow their business
• Networking and promotional opportunities
• Complimentary MVA membership for FY2026

“Mafuti Tank is open to everyone in The Marianas, whether you’re a business owner, artisan, farmer, or simply someone with a game-changing idea,” said MVA Product Development Manager Raquel Aquon. “This is your chance to contribute to our islands’ future and be part of what makes The Marianas an extraordinary destination.”
MVA is also encouraging all tourism partners to adapt, expand, or create new offerings that appeal to today’s travelers, especially the growing FIT (Free Independent Traveler) market seeking authentic cultural experiences, local food and traditions, hidden gems, and sustainable practices.
“With strong traveler demand, airlines will come, small businesses will thrive, and our community will benefit from respectful visitors who value what we offer,” Taijeron added. “This is the future of tourism, and it starts with unique experiences that build demand.”
