MVA launches ‘Marriage in Marianas’

GET married in the Northern Marianas this summer and receive special “paradise” surprises from tourism-based offices including the Marianas Visiting Authority, which has launched its latest marketing campaign called “Mari Mari” or “Marriage in the Marianas.”

“We invite couples to get married here in the Marianas. Have a paradise wedding and you’ll surely love it,” acting MVA Marketing Director Vicky I. Benavente said.

“Mari Mari” was launched on June 1.

“This is one of our summer promotions,” she said.

Benavente said the campaign is part of the goal to promote the CNMI as a family destination.

“The Northern Marianas is an excellent place for families. That’s what we want to focus on right now,” she said.

She said married couples receive special discounts from hotels, restaurants and other shops.

“Travel operators already know about this and they will be glad to assist in weddings and other family gatherings,” she said.

Benavente said MVA is poised to launch a massive marketing campaign this year to attract more tourists from different countries.

Right now, MVA is focusing on its major markets—Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

MVA is also expected to expand its campaign to other key cities in Asia.

Meanwhile, hundreds of Okinawans belonging to the Micronesian Repatriation Association of Okinawa have arrived for their annual visit.

A dinner party will be held tonight in memory of Okinawans who perished in the CNMI during World War II.

Memorial ceremonies are expected to be held in certain historical sites such as the Okinawa Peace Tower at Marpi Point.
