After the hearing, Superior Court Presiding Judge Robert Naraja remanded Yang, a.k.a. Mr. Dong, to the custody of the Department of Corrections.
The government, represented by Assistant Attorney General Matthew Meyer, will file an information on Nov. 2, while an arraignment was set for Nov. 9.
There will be a preliminary hearing on Nov. 3.
In his declaration of probable cause/complaint, which was signed by Assistant Attorney General George L. Hasselback as acting chief prosecutor of the criminal division, Detective Steven A. Castro said Yang was arrested on Oct. 23 during a controlled drug bust operation.
Prior to his arrest, Associate Judge Ramona V. Manglona authorized an eavesdropping search warrant against Yang on Oct. 20.
On Oct. 21, DPS Criminal Investigation Division’s narcotics unit conducted a buy-walk operation against Yang through a cooperating source and an undercover officer.
Yang handed to the cooperating source, and in the presence of the DPS undercover agent, a ziplock bag that contained “ice” worth $100.
The operation was held at the Sablan barracks compound in San Antonio, police said.
After the transaction, the cooperating source introduced the DPS undercover agent to Yang who agreed to sell “ice” to the undercover agent.
On the same night of Oct. 21, the DPS undercover agent contacted Yang to buy $50 worth of “ice.”
Yang agreed to have the transaction again at the Sablan barracks where Yang handed a ziplock bag containing “ice,” Castro said.
On Oct. 23, DPS organized a recorded controlled buy-bust against Yang who informed the undercover agent to proceed again to the Sablan barracks.
After the exchange of “ice” and the $60 marked money, DPS arrested Yang who was later transported to Department of Corrections for booking and detention.
Recovered from his possession was a large amount of money, including the DPS marked cash, police said.
Castro said probable cause exists to support the charges of trafficking of a controlled substance and illegal possession of a controlled substance against Yang.
