Peter Sgro, president of the Guam Healthcare and Hospital Development Foundation, said a three-day meeting about the proposed 130-acute care bed private hospital to finalize the “pre-design phase” was held recently.
Sgro said the group asked if the foundation can serve as a community advisory board as the project moves along.
The board will provide a cross-section of viewpoints regarding the hospital project, he said.
Sgro said the plan to build a private hospital on Guam has taken years to develop but will soon come to fruition.
He said the 10-member community advisory board should have representatives from the foundation, the Mayors Council of Guam, the Guam Cancer Coalition, the University of Guam, Guam Community College, the Guam Hotel & Restaurant Association, the Guam Diabetes Coalition and the local medical community.
Investors and the development team welcomed the suggestion and the foundation community outreach and education committee will soon meet with stakeholders.
“We can then call on each group to determine if they will accept representation on this advisory board,” said Sgro.
