New law allocates $380,000 in gaming revenues

GOVERNOR David M. Apatang on Monday approved House Local Bill 24-26, directing $380,000 in gambling machine revenues toward various programs and projects on Saipan. Co-authored by Rep. Ralph N. Yumul, Rep. Angelo A. Camacho, House Floor Leader Marissa Flores and Rep. John Paul Sablan, the bill is now Saipan Local Law 24-11.

The law allocates the gaming funds as follows:

– $20,000 to Karidat for personnel and operations to cover grant obligations from the Criminal Justice Planning Agency, which are currently on hold due to delays in CNMI’s single audit.

– $60,000 for the Navy Hill basketball court rehabilitation.

– $50,000 for the CNMI Scholarship and Financial Assistance Office.

– $30,000 for the Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation’s operations.

– $20,000 for the Carolinian Affairs Office’s participation in Cultural Heritage Month activities and related operational expenses.

– $20,000 for the Indigenous Affairs Office’s participation in Cultural Heritage Month activities and related operational expenses.
