Flores’s transition committee will look into the current list of employees, and Benavente believes the incoming mayor will bring in his own staff.
The transition committee will also look into how the mayor’s office operates, especially its community services.
“They can also ask for the financial records which are available at the Finance Department,” Benavente said.
In a separate interview, Flores said his transition committee will look into the operation of the mayor’s office in the past five years.
“We haven’t touched anything yet regarding employment,” he said.
Flores said they will also examine fixed assets that are still not operational and those still in working condition.
He said the transition committee is expected to visit the mayor’s office this week to inquire about the financial condition of Saipan’s municipal government.
Among the documents that the panel will request include the expenditure records and the budget proposal for fiscal year 2010.
Benavente said Tudela, who served for two terms, wants to ensure a smooth transition.
Flores’s transition committee is comprised of Kimo Rosario, chairman; Isidoro T. Cabrera, vice chairman; Jeff Tomokane, member; Vic Pangelinan and Henry Hofschneider, advisers.
