Rep. Ramon A. Tebuteb, R-Saipan and chairman of the delegation, said the hearing will be held on Nov. 12 at 1:30 p.m. The venue was not specified in his notice.
“A preliminary assessment to the amendment requested appears to be in line with provisions under the Saipan Zoning Law. As such, the…delegation members are kept abreast of needs requiring their immediate attention,” Tebuteb wrote to Heinz Staffler, who used to manage the facility.
A lessor refused to sign a lease agreement with the proponents of the project because the brewery will not be allowed to operate in the area which is located next to Coffee Care on Capital Hill.
The Korean investors plan to produce beer from the site which will then be marketed to local bars and restaurants serving tourists, particularly from South Korea.
Lawmakers believe a local beer will help the local tourism industry.
South Korea is the second biggest tourism market of the CNMI after Japan.
