The Mentor-Mentee Program, organized in collaboration with NMC’s Career Center’s Service Learning Program, began offering the program to its students this week.
ABE recommended the need for a mentor-mentee program as a result of its program review process, which made the recommendation in a report compiled by the Office of Institutional Effective and is used by the Planning, Program Review, and Outcome Assessment Committee to help the program continuous improve its services.
There are five talented mentors assisting ABE with the new program: Janel Pangelinan, Erlynn Romolor, Ian Carr, Lilia Lizama, George Ngirarois, and Molly Aichi.
The mentors are either current ABE students under the Adult School and General Educational Development programs and graduates of ABE currently in pursuit of higher education at NMC.
The Mentor-Mentee Program aims to offer a solid peer support program.
Under the program, ABE offers assistance on goal setting, planning, lessons on maximizing resources, and helpful tips for student success before transitioning to college life at NMC.
“The Mentor-Mentee Program will help eligible students identify ways to succeed in their respective programs be it GED or adult high school and college life. The mentors who make this program possible are role models for ABE students who avail of such program,” said NMC interim President Lorraine Cabrera.
